NATURAL PERFUME FAQ

What are natural perfumes and what makes them different from other perfumes?

Natural perfumes are perfumes made exclusively with natural materials such as pure essential oils, absolutes, concretes, gums, resins, tinctures or macerates. The raw materials used in natural perfumes come from the earth, whether it is flowers, herbs, bark, resins, wood, sea plants or animal excretion. Some natural perfumes contain materials of animal origin. What all natural perfumes have in common is that they don’t contain aroma chemicals or undergo synthetic processes to compose the fragrance.

Why are natural perfumes likely to be safer?

Most of conventional perfumes nowadays contain very little natural material. When you read a description of the scent, it may describe “ripe cherry” or “decadent rose” – the scent is created by blending dozens of chemicals to resemble a scent from nature. Unfortunately, we now know those chemicals are linked with cancer, reproductive health, hormone and immune disruption and allergies. Natural perfumes on the other hand are not only holistic, naturally occurring scents rather than a chemical representation, but also essential oils have in fact been shown to benefit a healthy body rather than harm it, unlike the chemicals found in most store-bought perfumes.

How long does a natural perfume last on the skin?

This depends on many factors, such as climate, skin chemistry and type of perfume. In general, our perfumes last anywhere from 3 to 8 hours. To enjoy the scent longer, spray not only your body but also your clothes and hair. If you have  dry skin, apply a little unscented oil first.

What is the shelf life of your perfumes ?

To maximize shelf life,  it is recommended to keep your perfume away from light, sunlight or heat. Also make sure the bottle is always well sealed. If you follow these instructions, you will be able to use your perfume for over 2 years. You might find  that your natural perfume smells even better and stronger with time.  You may discover that a good natural perfume is like a good wine, it only gets better with age.

I am sensitive to fragrance and petrochemicals. Will natural perfume and fragrance be better for me?

Often people who get headaches, allergies or skin reactions from fragrances, have a sensitivity to the synthetics used in so many of the perfumes on the market. However, if you have allergies to certain botanicals like flowers, etc. you may still have sensitivity with natural fragrances as well. We always recommend doing a patch test before using any new product on the skin, especially if you have a history of allergies or sensitivities. We also suggest purchasing our samples first. If you have any concerns, talk to your doctor, prior to usage.

Do you offer samples?

We sell sample sizes (1.5 ml) of most of our fragrances. For a small fee we offer a Discovery Set to let you experience the entire Fragrant Rituals range.

APOTHECARY & WELLNESS FAQ

Are your products completely natural?

All Fragrant Rituals products are plant based and free from petrochemicals, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, artificial dyes, synthetic fragrances and GMO’s. All Fragrant Rituals lines have been developed in house, by the FR founder, Zhanna who is a qualified aromatherapist and organic skincare formulator. She invested a lot of time on in-depth study to develop highly potent formulas with top quality ingredients. All essential oils used in our skincare and apothecary lines are Gas Chromatogram tested and we keep MSDS on file. Many ingredients used in Fragrant Rituals products are harvested or distilled from local plants in South Australia.  These are our own hydrosols from organic herbs and flowers collected by Fragrant Rituals locally. Handcrafted herb macerates and plant extracts and perfume from local flowers are used in our natural perfumes. Where local is not possible, we source them directly from trusted organic farms in Australia or overseas. If a preservative absolutely required, it is always an ECOCERT approved formula.

Are your products tested on animals?

Absolutely not!

Are your products all vegan?

All products you find on our website are 100% vegan and plant based.

I have bought your skincare product before and noticed a small variation in fragrance and texture. Have you changed the formulation?

Fragrant Rituals apothecary and skincare range is made in small batches to ensure freshness and quality control. Sometimes this may also mean that a final product slightly differ in texture due to variables in humidity and temperature within the studio. A variation in scent is most often due to the fact that botanical ingredients’ scent profile varies depending on the location, time of harvest, soil and rain conditions, and other variable environmental factors.

What currency is on the website?

The prices are automatically displayed in the currency of your current location. You may select to view the product prices in another currency by selecting the currency on the ‘currency drop down box’ at the top right hand corner of the screen.

How can I pay for my order?

We accept all major credit cards and PayPal. You do not need to have a PayPal account to check out with PayPal. We also offer Afterpay on all of our products. We do NOT store your financial/bank account or credit card details.

What are the shipping options?

Our preferred carrier is Australia Post.  We offer free shipping (with tracking number) for orders of AUD$75.00 or more within Australia and free international shipping for orders of AUD175.00 or more. For orders under AUD75.00 a flat AUD12.00 fee is applied for Australian orders and $30.00 for the rest of the world orders.

How long does it take you to send out orders?

All orders are sent within 2 business days of receiving them, but we often send them on the day of receiving.

Can I ship it as a gift?

You definitely can! Just leave a note in the comment and choose your gift recipient address as the mailing address for your order.

PACKAGING FAQ

Is your packaging fully recyclable?

We aim for minimal packaging. That is why some of our products don’t have outer packaging. We know that you care about our planet as much as we do, and know you don’t mind the absence of unnecessary packaging. Most of our products are presented in fully recyclable glass. Some of our products are packaged in reusable and recyclable high quality plastic. We also offer a refill service for some of our products. Please contact us for more information.

It is all good but I don’t want my order to be damaged in transit. How do you ensure that?

Don’t worry; we take all the precautions to make sure your order arrives safe and sound! We use environmentally friendly paper boxes and thoroughly package our orders. We also always reuse our suppliers’ packaging, such as cardboard boxes, plastic wrapping, brown paper and bubble wrap.
